Arivaca Road is one of the most scenic in Southern Arizona.  The hilly road winds through quiet mountains with a violent volcanic past.  Historic ranches, many with colorful histories, some shaded by massive cottonwood trees, nestle in the hills and valleys.  Baboquivari, a sacred mountain of the Tohono O'Odham and home to their God I'Itoi looms large and red on the way out.  And, on the last stretch back to Amado, Elephant Head in the Santa Ritas commands attention.  Arivaca itself boasts a stream that's a bird watchers dream.  The town has rustic buildings, a few of which house yuppie eateries.  Be prepared to spend a little time there to allow for checking out feathered friends at Arivaca creek and/or lunch if the group desires.  There are also places to get Mexican or Cowboy food if you want to leave Yuppiedom in the city.
