Kitt Peak Hill Climb

DISTANCE: 22 mile round trip
START / FINISH: Intersection of Ajo Highway (AZ 86) and AZ 386 35 miles west of Tucson at signed Kitt Peak turnoff.
ROUTE: Eleven continuous miles of uphill climbing to the summit
TERRAIN: Approximately 6 % grade, continuous uphill on good road
FEATURES: Outstanding views of the Tohono O’Odham (Papago) Indian Reservation on the way up; views of two dozen telescopes arrayed on the summit (more than in any other single location in the world). Water and restrooms available on the summit.
OPTIONS: Begin riding 15 miles east of the Kitt Peak turn-off in Three Points (Robles Junction) on AZ 86. (Three Points has a restaurant and general store.)
